April Practice Tips

As you break out the garden tools, think about the mechanics of how you work on your lawn and garden. Can you apply tai chi principles so as to avoid strain when lifting things or shoveling? Can you use good body mechanics? Try it out and see what your results are.

March Tai Chi Class Updates

• New Tai Chi Essence Class, Thursdays, 6-7 pm starting March 4. This class introduces you to a simple set of exercises that serve as a foundation for further tai chi practice or simply for use in daily life. They are easy to remember, and give great benefits for balance and relaxation and focus. CHINESE NEW YEAR SPECIAL TUITION: 2-for-1 for Essence class.....Two people take class for the price of one ($88). Essence classes can be taken on a drop-in basis, $23 per time. • FREE Tai Chi Class, Sunday, March 14, 6-7 pm.  Join Cheryl Powers for a discussion of "Tai Chi for Spring Health." Make your spring a healthy one. At the studio.

• NEW Tai Chi Beginners Class, Sunday, March 21, 6-7 pm. The benefits of tai chi practice are physical, mental, and metaphysical! Learn the fundamentals of traditional tai chi movement and ideas in this 10-week beginners class. Register at class. Tuition: $150.

World Tai Chi Day, Saturday, April 24. Great River will be joining with other groups at Normandale Community College in Bloomington for the festivities. Demonstrations, talks, displays, tai chi, qigong, and more! We'll send out info as it becomes available.

Minnesota Nurses Association Annual Retreat, Tuesday, April 27. Great River instructors Barbara Davis and Cheryl Powers will be presenting the Tai Chi Essence exercises at this conference for nurses.

• National Qigong Association National Conference, "Qi=mc2" will be held this August in Chaska, Minnesota.  Great River instructors Barbara Davis and Cheryl Powers will be presenting. Details to follow.
